Col d'Orcia is a traditional producer of Brunello di Montalcino. In Renaissance Florence, Spezieri were spice merchants. This wine is named after the ancient art of blending, composed of Sangiovese combined with another traditional Tuscan grape, Ciliegiolo, and small quantities of other grape varieties produced in the Col d'Orcia area. Spezieri is a young, fruity, easy-drinking wine, suitable for daily meals. Due to its composition, it is very versatile when pairing with food and is recommended for summer, at the recommended serving temperature.
Tasting notes: intense ruby red, with violet reflections. Intense and fruity aroma, with strong notes of cherry and small ripe red berries, accompanied by hints of spice. On the palate, it is a wine with good structure, soft and persistent tannins. Long, flavourful, and pleasant finish.
Provenance: vineyards owned by the winery, located in Montalcino, on the Sant'Angelo hill, overlooking the Orcia river, south exposure. Siena Province, Tuscany.
Altitude: 250m a.m.s.l.
Grape varieties: Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and international varieties. In vinifying these grapes, Col d'Orcia interpreted the ancient art of gathering spices, to obtain and enhance the complexity of aromas and flavours. Ciliegiolo, an ancient native Tuscan vine, presents fresh aromas of ripe black cherry, all harmonized by the rigour of Sangiovese.
Year: 2023
Vinification: maceration of the grapes for 8 to 10 days with careful control of fermentation temperatures, never exceeding 26°C, to preserve the very intense and characteristic fruit flavour. Malolactic fermentation immediately follows alcoholic fermentation. For 20% of the Sangiovese, malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels. Bottling is early to capture all the freshness of this product.
Alcohol content: 13.5%
Total acidity: 5.1 g/l
