Exclusively Italian, sun-dried tomatoes. One of the most flavourful products inherited from the agricultural traditions of Calabria and Apulia. They are naturally sun-dried (tomato and salt are the only ingredients) and can be used in various recipes.
After rehydrating them in extra virgin olive oil, try them on your crostini and bruschette, in a piadina, or on a charcuterie board. You can also rehydrate them in vegetable broth and prepare Risotto ai pomodori secchi e basilico (basil). It's an ingredient that should never be missing from your pantry.
Origin: Montalto Uffugo, an Italian municipality in the Calabria region, province of Cosenza.
Dove il sole si fa sapore (where the sun becomes flavour) is the signature of this Calabrian producer, La Cosentina, whose production also includes spices, oregano, dried figs, and other dried fruits. This motto fully justifies this ancient knowledge of dehydrating fruits as a method of preservation, but also of enhancing their organoleptic characteristics.
