The Mediterranean climate, the Montalcino terroir, the nobility of Merlot, Cabernet, and Syrah, the knowledge and passion of those who have always cared for the vineyards from which the wine is born. This is how Nearco was born. On the moderate slope of the south-facing hills of Montalcino, surrounded by the austere Brunello vineyards, lies the land dedicated to the international grape varieties that make Tuscan reds so famous. A true cru, where Merlot, Cabernet, and Syrah found ideal development conditions to express their recognised class to the fullest. Nearco is vinified with these grapes, carefully harvested and aged for eighteen months in barriques. A new wine of great impact and structure, where the delicacy of Merlot perfectly marries the strength of Cabernet and the spicy fruit of Syrah.

Tasting notes: It presents an intense ruby red. Intense, broad, and rich aroma. Fruity notes, particularly blackberry, emerge along with hints of spices and vanilla, leading to the balsamic tones typical of the cultivars. On the palate, it is enveloping, with excellent tannic texture and good acidity. The mature tannins are well integrated and persistent. It finishes with an elegant end.

Provenance: Montalcino, Sant'Angelo hill, hill overlooking the Orcia river. Medium-textured soil with the presence of calcareous pebbles, hilly with a south-southwest orientation. Province of Siena, Tuscany.

Altitude: 250m a.s.l.

Weather conditions: Mild winter with minimum temperatures in January, followed by rain in the second half of February. Cool spring with precipitation. June and July were sunny, with only a significant amount of rain. August with usual seasonal average temperatures. Thanks to the accumulated water reserves and temperatures that did not reach excessively high peaks, the foliar system remained almost intact and efficient. All this allowed a slow and homogeneous ripening of the grapes, ideal for obtaining perfect phenolic and technological maturity. A five-star vintage!

Grape varieties: 50% Merlot, 28% Syrah, and 22% Petit Verdot. The choice during harvesting is based on seeking balanced maturity for all varieties, except for Syrah, where a slight over-ripening is preferred to increase the wine's complexity.

Year: 2019

Vinification: Separate fermentation of the grape varieties in steel tanks. Maceration lasts approximately 12 to 14 days at a controlled temperature of 25°C. Malolactic fermentation in cement tanks. First racking directly into barriques in the spring of 2020. The wines are aged separately by grape variety and lot for 24 months in French oak barriques. No decanting was performed until the final blending, completed in early summer 2022. Stability was achieved in barriques during winter, subjecting the product to seasonal cold to obtain a clear wine by natural method. This was followed by bottle refinement at controlled temperature.

Bottling data: bottled on July 9, 2021. 23,373 Bordeaux bottles of 750 ml. 300 Magnum bottles of 1.5 litres.
