A very aromatic red wine, characterized by notes of cherries, plums, and violets. On the palate, it is smooth and balanced, with delicate tannins. It has aging potential and evolves well in the bottle.
The history of the Monica grape variety is shrouded in mystery. Around the year 1000, Spanish monks planted this grape variety between Sassari and Alghero. Later, the Camaldolese monks extended its cultivation to the rest of the island.
Less known than the wine made from its countrywoman Cannonau, it is perfect for accompanying cured meats and aged cheeses, main courses of white and red meats.
