Italia Particolare is Marsala's traditional mark of quality, to which mosto cotto (cooked grape must) is added. This ingredient gives the wine its characteristic depth, amber colour, and welcoming sweetness that is never excessive. Pellegrino produces this Marsala Superiore Semisecco from the Grillo, Catarratto and Inzolia varieties — the classic trio of Western Sicilian grapes — and ages it in oak barrels for at least twelve months.
Tasting notes: intense amber colour, with aromas of vanilla, toasted almonds, quince, and dried apricot. Soft and full-bodied on the palate, with a balanced sweetness and a slightly bitter finish, with notes of nuts.
Food pairing: pairs particularly well with tiramisù and cannoli.
Grape varieties: Grillo, Catarratto and Inzolia.
Region: Terre Siciliane.
Ageing: at least 12 months in wooden barrels.
Total acidity: 4.80 g/l
Residual sugar: 53.00 g/l

The History
Marsala is a historic fortified wine. It was invented by a British merchant (John Woodhouse) in 1773, who managed to export it all over the world thanks to his relationship with Admiral Nelson, who bought large quantities for his fleet.
Later, it became one of the first Italian appellations of origin.
It is a Sicilian wine characterised by its aroma, obtained through long ageing in large oak barrels of at least 10,000 litres. During this process, part of the wine evaporates year after year, and small amounts of air enter the barrel, giving it its characteristic aroma. Currently, it can only be produced, aged and bottled in the city of Marsala and neighbouring municipalities.
