The Mare Chiaro Cirò Bianco DOC from Ippolito 1845 is a white wine of great character and personality, originating from the historic Cirò appellation, located in the province of Crotone, Calabria. It is an excellent ambassador for the Greco Bianco grape, an indigenous Calabrian variety known for its ability to fully express the characteristics of its terroir, resulting in particularly aromatic and well-structured wines.

Tasting notes: It displays a crystalline colour, a clear indication of its freshness and purity and the quality of the winemaking process. The aromatic bouquet is intense and persistent, with notes of tropical fruits, such as pineapple and mango, nuances of pear, peach, and white flowers. This aromatic complexity is the result of careful vinification and ageing, which allow for the full development of the different aromas.
On the palate, the Mare Chiaro stands out for its freshness and Mediterranean profile. The final marine note evokes proximity to the sea and gives the wine a distinct and refreshing character.

Food pairing: It is an excellent accompaniment to a wide variety of dishes. Its freshness and marine notes make it ideal for sushi, enhancing the delicate flavours of raw fish. It is also perfect with pasta, especially those with light sauces or seafood, and with grilled fish and white meats. The wine's versatility also makes it suitable for more elaborate dishes, where it can balance and contrast with the respective flavours.

Origin: Cirò Marina (KR), a region with a thousand-year-old winegrowing tradition. The Mediterranean climate and soil composition give the wine unique freshness and minerality.

Awards: Best Value for Money in the Gambero Rosso's prestigious Vini D'Italia 2026 Guide

"There are wines that immediately tell the story of a land, inviting conviviality through their accessibility to all, yet capable of surprising from the first sip. This is the case of Ippolito 1845's Cirò Bianco Mare Chiaro '24, which this year won the Best Value for Money award in Gambero Rosso's Vini d'Italia 2026 guide (...). This award is not just about price: what is impressive is the harmony of a wine that combines freshness, territorial identity, and stylistic precision. A white wine that exudes lightness and authenticity, inviting daily consumption — carefree, yet never trivial — and demonstrating how quality can coexist with simplicity, understood as care and precision."
