This Aglianico del Vulture DOC, produced by Orme di Lava, comes from grapes grown in the volcanic soils of the rural locality of Pian di Camera, clay-loam soils with good fertility due to the presence of colloidal formations. These are volcanic soils
with excellent drainage, where lapilli and ashes from ancient eruptions
have mixed with soil rich in clay, calcium, nitrogen and tuff, creating a unique terroir
in its kind and in the Mediterranean wine landscape.
Conceived respecting the characteristics of the grape variety, it is a modern interpretation of Aglianico. The soil characteristics and significant temperature variations enhance the peculiar characteristics of the grapes, giving this wine a unique aromatic profile and the ability to evolve in the bottle.
Purple-red in colour, the aroma is intensely fruity, particularly blackberry and black cherry. The palate is fruity, soft and round, with a persistent flavour. It can be stored for about 7 years, laid horizontally in a dark, cool place.
Food pairing: baked pasta dishes, red meats, roast meats and aged cheeses. Excellent with intense dishes from Lucanian gastronomy, such as stuffed calzoncelli and Lucanian-style chicken.
Origin: slopes of the Vulture volcano, in Pian di Camera, municipality of Venosa, province of Potenza, in Basilicata. Hilly terrain, 400 metres above average sea level.
