Brunello di Montalcino DOCG: discover the jewel in the crown of Col D'Orcia
Partilhar
The vineyards of the multi-award-winning Col D'Orcia are located on the southern slope of the Montalcino territory, on hilly terrain, stretching over 540 hectares, from the Orcia river to the village of Sant'Angelo in Colle. Its position, about 450 meters above sea level, is extremely favourable, facing south and protected by the barrier of Monte Amiata (1,750 meters) against weather events and by the mild climate coming from the Tyrrhenian coast, to the west, from which it is only 35 km away.
Col d'Orcia is a traditional producer of the famous Brunello di Montalcino, which we have available in the 2020 vintage.
Tasting notes: It presents a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The bouquet is ample and complex, highlighting delicate notes reminiscent of small ripe red fruits, such as cherry and blackberry, well integrated with the woody and vanilla notes conferred by the long aging in wood. The flavor is full, full-bodied, and balanced. A wine of excellent structure, with an enveloping tannic texture that foreshadows a fruity and persistent finish.
Grape varieties and harvest: 100% Sangiovese, particular clones, locally called Brunello. Manual harvest, with rigorous selection of the best bunches in the vineyard and subsequently on the sorting table in the cellar.
Winemaking: Skin fermentation lasting 18 to 20 days, at controlled temperature below 28° C, in low, wide 150 hl steel tanks, specially designed to effectively but delicately extract tannins and color. Aging for a period of 4 years, of which 32 months in oak barrels.
Alcohol content: 14.5%
Serving temperature: 18°C
"Deep to dark ruby red in color. Deep, moody and backward on the nose but with real precision. Lots of juicy red fruit and impressive, fine-grained tannins. Still a little embryonic but already hard to resist. Pure class." JANCIS ROBINSON
