AMARCORD
The capital of Emilia Romagna, Bologna, is known as la Dotta (the Learned, thanks to its University, the first in the Western world, founded in the 11th century), La Rossa (the Red, the predominant colour of its buildings, palaces, and Piazza Maggiore..., but also due to its political history and resistance) and la Grassa (the Fat, thanks to its unparalleled gastronomy: tortellini, mortadella, ragù, torta tenerina...). For a Bolognese, eating well is an absolute priority. For us, too.
Amarcord is one of Federico Fellini's films, released in 1973, which depicts life in a small coastal town in Northern Italy under fascist rule in the 1930s. The title evokes the expression "a m'acord"(I remember) used in the Emilia Romagna region, where Fellini was born.
But Amarcord is also the name of a brewery founded in 1997 by the Bagli family, which proudly remains Italian and independent. Its production unit was built between Romagna and the Apennine Mountains, where the water is purest. Thanks to the partnership initiated in 2018 with Società Agricola Bellavista delle Sorelle Nati, Grattacoppa (in Ravenna) now houses the largest Giardino delle Luppole in the Romagna region and one of the largest in Italy. This is where the hop flowers used in Amarcord beers come from.
Among Amarcord's creations, we highlight: Bianca (wheat malt), Tabacchera (Strong Amber Ale), Midòna (Golden Ale), Volpina (Red Ale) and the India Pale Ale, which is, simply, extraordinary!
